Below is a letter to the ASGA that truly depicts what the ASGA Monk Wade Father & Son Championship is all about.  It's more than just another golf tournament as you can see in the letter below.

Mr. Creed,  I noticed something this weekend at the father-son tournament in NW Arkansas that you might need to know about. I played with a guy that might have gone unnoticed, but he went to the gold tees to hit. (He'll be 73 in December). He may have gone unnoticed, but, he hit it right down the middle, (He may have missed three fairways all weekend). I noticed nothing as he walked from the cart paths to his ball in the heat of July at Pinnacle to hit his shots, (even though he had quadruple by-pass surgery in February this year). I didn't notice as he hiked around Big Sugar to the tees and greens, except, for his frequent relief stops, (He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 02 and operated on soon after). Some noticed as he got to the putting contest, and when they didn't have a 48" putter like he uses, he just picked one out, and sank the fifty-something footer. I don't think many noticed when his team tied for first in the third flight and finished three or four shots from being first overall. Few noticed that his team won the century flight, (with a combined age of 117). But I noticed. I took note because this guy is my dad. I noticed his strength and fortitude and love of this game, in a weekend that I'll never forget. So if you're around NW Arkansas and notice Bill Cowan somewhere, tell him good job or congratulations or something like that, cause some things just shouldn't go unnoticed. Thanks for a great tournament. I'll never forget the experience. Sincerely, Preston Cowan
