Four Added To The ASGA Hall of Fame

Four golfers will be added to the Arkansas State golf Association Hall of Fame at the 2000 banquet and induction ceremony, which will be announced at a later date.

The 2000 inductees are Robert Dedman, Jack Fleck, Ed Harris, and Ed Dell Wortz.

Harris, 67, was born in Nimrod, Arkansas and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1950.  His golfing accomplishments have made him one of the most recognizable names in the history of amateur golf in Arkansas. 

Dedman, 74, who was born in Rison, is founder and chairman of the board of ClubCorp, Inc., which owns and operates approximately 260 clubs, resorts, public fee golf courses and real estate developments world wide.  Courses owned by ClubCorp include Pinehurst, The Homestead Resort and Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village.

Fleck, 77, for the last 20 years has owned and operated the Lil' Bit of Heaven Golf Club in Magazine, Arkansas.  He won the1955 U. S. Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, defeating the great Ben Hogan in what some have called "the most dramatic and mysterious upset in golf history".

Wortz, 77, has done more to promote golf, especially women's and junior girls, than any other women in ;the state of Arkansas.  For more than 30 years, she served on the Junior Girls and Women's Committees for the United States Golf Association (USGA), including a stint as chairperson of the USGA Junior Girls Committee.  She makes her home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
