Lareau & Wallace Win 2-Lady Scramble

04/24/2019

Ladies of the ASGA played in our second tournament of the season at the 2-Lady Scramble on April 23-24 at DeSoto Golf Club in Hot Springs Village. 30 teams competed in this annual event featuring a shotgun start both days of the tournament. Teams were divided into three flights for day two based on first-round scoring. Participants also enjoyed lunch and refreshments in addition to 18 holes of golf each day.

The second round championship flight concluded with Kerry Lareau & Michelle Wallace as the 2-Lady Scramble winners. First flight winners were Jill Enderlin and Wanda White, and second flight winners were Linda Dreier and Rachel Rau.

Neither championship winners had ever played the DeSoto Golf Club course before this event and tackled this challenge head first after struggling the first round.

“We played defensive golf all day yesterday,” Wallace says. “Today was more freewheeling, more going at the pin, more aggressive on our putts.”

We had a chance to talk to the winning team after the championship ceremony to find out how this dynamic partnership came to be.

“We were a blind date. When I first moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, we had a member-guest at my club, Chenal CC, and they said they had a woman who could play my level,” Wallace explained. “That was the start of a great relationship.”

Wallace and Lareau go on to play all over the country, including an upcoming tournament this week in Dallas, Texas. As for the ASGA, our next women’s event is the Phyllis Thomas Memorial Pink Ball on May 23rd at Harbor Oaks Golf Course.
