ASGA Member Qualifies for U.S. Senior Women's Open:

Arkansas Golf Hall of Famer Julie Oxendine of Russellville added another to her long list of achievements qualifying for the 4th U.S. Senior Women’s Open August 25-28 at the NCR Club in Kettering, OH.

Oxendine, a member of the ASGA Board of Directors and current Vice-President, journeyed to Mansfield, TX in mid-July and finished the qualifying as an alternate on the Walnut Creek Country Club’s Oak Course.  Recently she received the news that she was no longer an alternate and would be a member of the 120-player field as 72 players earned entry int the championship at 16 qualifying sites nationwide.

“I am super excited about playing in the Senior Women’s Open and I hope I’m not so star-struck that I can’t even swing,” she said.

Ten past U.S. Women’s Open Champions are in the field including three-time champ Annika Sorenstam, who is in her first year of eligibility.

“This field includes the most talented golfers of their generation,” stated USGA Chief Championships Officer John Bodenhamer.

While this is Oxendine’s 15th USGA Championship, it is her first U.S. Senior Women’s Open.

“I hope to be able to take everything in and really appreciate the opportunity,” Oxendine said.
