Women's Fore States

The Fore States Championship is an annual team match play event between Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

History

In 1995, Edell Wortz from Hardscrabble CC in Fort Smith, Arkansas, a life-long supporter of women’s and girls’ golf in the United States, donated the Wortz trophy and organized the first Fore States Championship in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Format

The Fore States Championship is a two-day annual event with a Ryder Cup format combining four-ball, foursomes, and singles matches. Each state alternates as the host state.

Team Selection

The four member states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri each field a 12-member team competing in three divisions, the Amateur, Mid-Am, and Masters. Each team will select four players to compete in the Amateur Division (ages 39 and under), Mid-Am Division (40 to 59), and Masters Division (60 and up). Based on Player of the Year points the top four players from each division are selected for our Fore States team.

This is a wonderful opportunity and a great experience for our players to connect with each other and meet competitors from the other three states!

Team selections for each year will be based on Player of the Year Point Standings:

  1. Amateur ( 39 and under)
  2. Mid-Am ( 40 -59)
  3. Masters (60 and up)
